A beam of light that cuts steel!

Metal

For those who wonder how a laser works, here's a simplified version.  It starts out as electricity, which is used to excite CO2 gas in a vacuum tube.  This reaction creates photons of light as hot as the sun.  The light is reflected onto a series of angled mirrors until it reaches the cutting head of the machine.  A lens focuses the beam to a pinpoint so small the metal melts instantly.
